Rarichan Enna Pauran - 1956

Rarichan is an orphan employed by a kindly widow and her daughter in their teashop. He gets arrested for steeling money for helping his benefactor for producing her daughter's dowry.
P Bhaskaran's first solo as a director continues with the realism used in Newspaper Boy (1955) but using a more melodramatic form using more songs.

Irutinte Atmavu - 1967
(The Soul of Darkness)
Mentally retarded Velayudhan is left to the care of his uncle Gopalan Nair and his daughter Ammukutty, his cousin and traditionally his future bride. When she is molested by a foreign-returned relative, he protests, but is chained and locked up. She is married off to an old widower, but when she too rejects Velayudhan's pleas to reconsider her decision, he finally acknowledges defeat and agrees to be defined as mad.
