M G Sasi

Adayalangal - 2008
[Footprints]

Malayalam writer Nandanar (P C Gopalan) was born in 1924 in the Malappuram district of Kerala, couldn’t complete his schooling due to poverty, was forced to join the armed force for making a living and was rather disillusioned with what he was doing. Back home from the battlefield, he did what he enjoyed doing. He wrote books – most of them based on his experiences as a soldier. He committed suicide the very next day he completed writing his last novel “Anubhavangal”.

M G Sasi, well known for documentaries like “Kanavumalayilekku”, in his first feature film traces the footprints of the writer, especially his childhood and adolescence. The military camp and the Indo-China war too make the backdrop of the film.
