Pokkuveyil - 1981 Pokkuveyil is a journey through the complex labyrinths of a young artist's mindscapes, going through a phase of alienation.
A young artist lives with his father, a radical friend and music loving young woman. His father dies, the radical friend leaves him and the woman is taken away by her family to another city. The young artist's world collapse and he becomes prey to hallucinations and ends up in a mental asylum. The real life poet, Balachandran Chullikkadu portrays the role of the young artist in Pokkuveyil. In Pokkuveyil Aravindan recorded its audio first as a composition for the flute by Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia and the sarod by Rajeev Taranath. The visuals were 'composed' according to musical notations, without any script. Pokkuveyil won Aravindan the State Film award for best director.
