Ore Thooval Pakshikal - 1988
(Birds of a Feather)
The film is a Marxist interpretation of the birth of trade unionism in the rubber plantations of the Malabar coast- from the late Nineteenth century to the early 1930s- the centre of the rebellion of the Mapillas against the British. Contractor Raju, an outsider who is a Brahmin arrives at the rubber estate. He gets close to the workers and shares their sufferings and miseries. The discontentment grows louder among the workers.
The film, in a docu-drama style, depicts the last days of the British Raj.
